What "we build it first" actually means

Not a sandbox demo with sample products in it. We build your system, with your data, and we write the custom code your process needs — before there's a contract.

70%

of your operations, running, before you sign anything

Built free After signature

Your cost to get here:
$0

1

We take your real data

A sample of your SKUs, BOMs, routings, customers, price lists and open orders. Whatever you actually run on today, even if it's a spreadsheet.

Protected under our mutual standard non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before data transfer.

2

We build the actual system

Your workflows, your warehouse logic, your document layouts — configured on your real data so you can see exactly how production would run. A proof of concept built to your operation, not a generic Odoo demo.

3

Custom development is included

Where standard Odoo doesn't fit your process, we write the module. Most partners scope custom work as a change order after you've signed. We build it into the proof.

4

You see it run, then you decide

We walk your team through your real workflows in the system so you can judge the fit for yourself — a working proof of concept, not a licensed production instance. If it isn't right, you walk away and owe us nothing.

Why we're willing to do this Odoo projects fail for one reason above all others: the scope was guessed at, then discovered mid-build at the client's expense. If we've already built 70% of it, there's nothing left to discover. That's also how we can put a fixed price in the contract and mean it.
Verified Google review

They came to us stuck with another Odoo partner.

Simply the best Odoo partner. Professional, available, and helpful at every stage of the project.

We were in a tricky situation with another Odoo partner, and Kerning Code unlocked the situation at a very reasonable price compared to the crazy pricing we often see with Odoo partners.

They didn't focus on the price but on how they could help us — and they delivered on time, with no extra budget, even though they provided far more than expected.

Thank you Anthony, and thank you for your support. I definitely recommend Kerning Code.

Seven questions worth asking every Odoo partner

You're probably talking to more than one of us. Here's what we'd ask in your position — including if you're considering going direct to Odoo.

Ask them KerningCode What to watch for
Can I see my system before I sign? Yes — 70% built, on your data, free. A generic demo instance, or a slide deck of screenshots.
Is the price fixed before I sign? Yes, in writing, after your free build. Billed by the hour as they go, or a range that only moves up.
Who writes the custom code? Our own developers. Canadian team, coast to coast. Subcontractors or offshore teams you'll never speak to.
What if your estimate was wrong? We absorb it. Fixed price means fixed. A change-order process explained in detail on the first call.
How many builds last 12 months? 30+, with 400+ users on systems we manage. Partners who count lifetime projects instead of recent ones.
Who owns the database? You. Always. Including the custom modules. Code held in the partner's repo, or licensing on their modules.
What happens after go-live? Two weeks staffed at go-live, then a 6-month warranty on everything we built. A separate support retainer quoted the week you go live.

Certified Odoo consulting & custom ERP implementation services in Canada

Everything included. Nothing billed by surprise.

Fixed price, in writing

Your full implementation cost, locked before you sign a thing.

Custom development

Where Odoo doesn't fit your process, we build the module. In scope, not extra.

Data migration

Products, customers, suppliers, open orders, historical transactions.

Two weeks staffed, six months warrantied

A dedicated team through your first two weeks live. Then six months where anything we built that breaks, we fix free.

Training that stays after we leave

We train your admins, your floor staff, and the people who'll train your next hire. French or English, both included.

Pre-built Canadian compliance & integrations

CFIA lot/batch recall engines, EDI connectors, transport routing, multi-currency, and 200+ proprietary modules — not just a module count, but functional tools for Canadian manufacturers.

We know your operation, not just the software

Process manufacturing (batch, recipe, formula) or discrete (BOMs, assembly, serial numbers) — we've built both, repeatedly, in Canada.

Food & beverage processing & distribution
Bakery & commercial commissary production
Trailer, specialty vehicle & equipment manufacturing
Doors, windows & architectural building products
Machining, CNC & metal fabrication job shops
Medical devices, healthcare & field service
Wholesale distribution & barcode WMS
Custom make-to-order (MTO & ETO) machinery
If it moves product, we've likely built for it. Process manufacturing, discrete assembly, or wholesale distribution — bring your operational workflows to the working session.
We stand behind every build

This is how sure we are.

Every partner talks about outcomes. We put ours in the contract.

  • Free working proof of concept — 70% of your system, on your data, to evaluate before any money changes hands.

  • Fixed price — the number in your contract is the number you pay.

  • 6-month warranty, not just support — if something we built breaks in the first six months, we fix it. Free, and not billed as hours.

  • You own everything once you sign — the database, the configuration, the custom modules become yours with the contract, and stay yours.

  • Payments follow delivered work — milestones you've accepted, never promises.

  • Weekly milestones, shared — you always know exactly where things stand.

30+ implementations in the last 12 months. Established 2015 · Montreal. 400+ users we manage. Zero failed go-lives.

How the engagement works

  1. Working session

    Free

30 minutes. We map your operation and tell you if we're a fit.

  2. Discovery

    Free

We go deep on your real processes and pull a sample of your data.

  3. 70% of your system, built

    Free

Your system, your data, custom development included. You evaluate it, then decide.

  4. Fixed-price contract

Scope and number locked. Low deposit, then payment per accepted milestone.

  5. Go-live + 6 months

A dedicated team through your first two weeks live, then six months of warranty on what we built.

Built for growing operations

This is for you if:

  • You run a manufacturer or distributor with 20–100 employees
  • You've outgrown QuickBooks, spreadsheets, and disconnected apps
  • Your SKUs, BOMs, or warehouses are multiplying faster than your systems
  • Your process has real quirks that standard software won't cover

We're probably not your fit if:

  • Solo operators or startups under 15 users (standard Odoo self-serve is better suited)
  • You're shopping purely on licence price (Odoo sells those directly)
  • You want a quick install with no process change
Before we talk about money

The expensive version of this project is the one that fails.

Nobody budgets for a second attempt. But an ERP implementation that stalls doesn't stop — it runs alongside your business while you keep paying for both.

  • You pay twice for the same year

Licences, consulting hours and internal time all keep running while your team quietly goes back to the spreadsheets. The old process never actually stopped.

  • Rework costs more than the original build

Someone has to unpick the configuration before rebuilding it. Undoing a bad data model is slower than building a good one from scratch — and you're paying someone to do both.

  • The real cost is the lost year

Twelve more months of manual order entry, stockouts you didn't see coming, and a month-end close that takes two weeks. That number is almost always larger than the implementation itself.

  • Your team only tolerates one failed rollout

The second attempt runs into resistance that has nothing to do with the software. You've spent credibility you can't buy back, and the people who have to use it every day have already decided it won't work.

This is the entire reason we build 70% of your system before you pay us. Not generosity — scope guessing is what makes these projects fail, and we would rather delete the guess than manage the fallout. It's also why we can put a fixed number in a contract and mean it.

How pricing works

Every Odoo project is priced on complexity, and anyone who quotes you a number on day one is guessing. You'll pay for that guess later, as change orders. So we do it in this order instead:

Working session 30 minutes. We tell you whether we're a fit, and give you honest cost ranges for a company your size. $0
Discovery and scoping We map your real processes and pull a sample of your data. $0
We build 70% of your system Your workflows, your data, custom development included. $0
Then, and only then, a fixed number In writing, based on a system that already exists rather than one we imagined. It doesn't move after that. Fixed

Most 20–100 employee implementations we deliver land between CA $40,000 and CA $80,000, depending on how many warehouses you run and how much custom work your process needs. Odoo licence fees are separate and paid directly to Odoo. This is a multi-month engagement with a dedicated team, not a weekend install — so it isn't the cheapest way to get Odoo running, and we won't pretend otherwise. You'll get a real range for your operation in the first 30 minutes, not after three meetings.

Want to be live for your 2027 fiscal year?

Building a free working system takes real engineering hours, so we only run a few at a time. A typical build runs a few months after that — which means a January 2027 go-live starts with a conversation now.

Straight answers before you book

There's no catch, but there is a filter. We only do free builds for companies we think are a genuine fit — manufacturers and distributors in the 20–100 employee range where we're confident we can deliver. It costs us real engineering time, so we run a limited number at once. If we don't think we're right for you, we'll say so on the first call rather than build something nobody's going to buy.
Most 20–100 employee implementations we deliver land between CA $40,000 and CA $80,000, depending on how many warehouses you run and how much custom work your process needs. Odoo licence fees are separate and paid directly to Odoo. We won't put your exact number on a landing page — complexity still varies company to company — but you will get an honest range in the first 30 minutes of the working session, and we'll tell you if we think you're better served elsewhere. Your exact figure is fixed in writing after your free build, once most of the system already exists. (Other partners may call that a proof of concept.)
Because of the sequence. Most partners quote from a discovery document, then discover the real complexity while building — at your expense. We build first and quote second. By the time you see a number, 70% of the work is done and sitting in front of you. If our estimate on the remaining 30% is wrong, we absorb it.
Good — you should be. Ask all of us the seven questions in the table above, and pay attention to who will build you a working system on your own data before asking for money. That single question separates partners faster than anything else.
Sometimes, yes. If your processes are close to standard and you have someone internal who can own the configuration, going direct is cheaper and we'll tell you that. Where it breaks down is custom development, complex manufacturing logic, and data migration from systems Odoo's team doesn't touch. That's the work we exist for.
They might. The questions are whether they've done 30+ implementations in the last year, whether they'll fix a bad estimate on their own dime, whether they write Odoo modules themselves, and whether they'll still be supporting you six months after go-live.
Discovery and the free build take a few weeks. A full build typically runs a few months after that, depending on scope. We set the timeline during discovery and you see milestones every week — no black box.
Yes. We serve clients across Canada, with teams in Montréal — training, documentation, support and your Odoo interface can all run in French, English, or both.
We fix it, free, for six months. Not "we'll look at it and send you a quote" — if it's something we built and it isn't working the way it was supposed to, it's on us. That's a warranty, not a support retainer. New requirements that come up after go-live are a separate conversation, and we'll tell you plainly which is which.
